Overall, Coastal Flats isn't quite as special or unique as some of the other GA locations, and, especially if we're in Fairfax, I would always prefer Ozzies, but it's solid, and if you love fish, you're going to love this place. The service at GA restaurants is always topnotch. A manager also came out and apologized profusely for what I considered to be a small error. My mom's salmon came out less done than she would like, and the kitchen quickly corrected the issue. The broccolini that came as a side was also tasty, though I think it could have been cooked a minute longer. The fish itself was mild and cooked well, and the pecan crust was subtle yet flavorful. I'm not the world's biggest fish lover (apart from sushi), but I really liked this dish. Service was very fast, and our waitress was very kind, despite my parents' various demands.

Our last visit was on Father's Day, and we sat on the lovely back patio. Coastal Flats is a fish and seafood-centric restaurant, so the menu is much more focused on fresh fish than at other GA locations. As with most of the Great American restaurants, the menu has some staple items that can be found at other locations, along with unique items specific to the restaurant's theme. While Sweetwater Tavern and Ozzies are my favorites, I don't mind Coast Flats, and have been to 2/3 of the Virginia locations. grab beer and chat with friends and enjoy the food. i ordered steak and friends ordered steak and fish.
